15-Day Classic Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari

Overview

15-Day Classic Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari: Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Big Game, the Nile & Scenic Lakes

This Uganda primates and wildlife safari is a complete 15-day private road safari designed for travelers who want the best of Uganda in one well-paced journey. It combines Uganda’s most powerful wildlife and primate experiences: rhino tracking at Ziwa, game drives and the Nile boat safari in Murchison Falls National Park, Semliki’s hot springs and lowland forest, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park, Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, Queen Elizabeth National Park, gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi, and a final soft wildlife experience in Lake Mburo National Park.

This route follows a natural western Uganda circuit: Entebbe → Murchison Falls → Fort Portal/Semliki → Kibale → Queen Elizabeth → Bwindi → Lake Bunyonyi → Lake Mburo → Entebbe. It is ideal for couples, families, honeymooners, photographers, mature travelers, first-time Uganda visitors, wildlife lovers, and travelers who want a classic Uganda safari without unnecessary backtracking.

Kuzora Safari Tours runs this as a private guided Uganda road safari using a 4x4 safari Land Cruiser, with an experienced safari guide, carefully selected comfort/luxury lodges, permit planning, park entry coordination, lodge matching, and reliable on-ground support throughout the journey.

Mihingo Lodge is one of the best Lake Mburo upgrades because it is an exclusive lodge next to the park, with walking safaris, horseback safaris, night drives, boat trips, and strong views over the savannah landscape.

Brief Safari Notes

This 15-day Uganda primates and wildlife safari is priced using high-season planning, 2 people sharing a double/twin room, private road transport, and comfort/luxury accommodation. Uganda Wildlife Authority’s 2024–2026 tariff lists the foreign non-resident gorilla trekking permit at USD 800 per person, gorilla habituation at USD 1,500, and Kibale chimpanzee tracking at USD 250 under the current tariff period.

Day 2

Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, begin your private Uganda road safari northwards to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park and one of the best places for a classic wildlife safari. Day 3

Day 4

Murchison Falls National Park to Fort Portal

After breakfast, leave Murchison Falls and travel southwest toward Fort Portal, Uganda’s scenic tourism town near Kibale Forest, Semliki National Park, crater lakes, and the Rwenzori foothills. Tip of the Day

This is one of the longest driving days of the safari. It is kept as a transfer day so the itinerary does not rush Murchison Falls or Kibale.

Day 5

Semliki National Park Hot Springs & Lowland Forest Experience

Today you explore Semliki National Park, one of Uganda’s most distinctive and less-crowded protected areas. Semliki is different from the classic savannah parks because it offers lowland tropical forest, hot springs, birdlife, smaller primates, and an off-the-beaten-path Uganda safari experience.

Today's Highlights

Tip of the Day

Semliki is best sold honestly. It is not mainly a big-game destination. Its strength is hot springs, forest ecology, birding, biodiversity, and the feeling of exploring a quieter part of Uganda.

Day 6

Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

This is one of the most important primate days on the itinerary. Kibale National Park is Uganda’s best-known chimpanzee trekking destination, while Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary adds community tourism, birds, smaller primates, wetland scenery, and a relaxed afternoon experience.

Day 7

Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 8

Queen Elizabeth Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Today is a full safari day in Queen Elizabeth National Park, combining an early morning game drive with an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is one of the best days for seeing elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds, antelopes, and sometimes lions.

Accommodation choices can affect the final safari price. If you prefer a different lodge or camp, Kuzora can update the quote accordingly.

Tip of the Day

The Kazinga Channel boat safari is one of Queen Elizabeth’s strongest experiences because wildlife often gathers close to the water, making it excellent for photography even for first-time safari travelers.

Day 9

Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi via Ishasha Sector

Today you travel from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of Uganda’s mountain gorillas. The best route is through the Ishasha sector, where there is a chance of seeing the famous tree-climbing lions before continuing toward Bwindi.

  • Buhoma Community Rest Camp

Accommodation choices can affect the final safari price. If you prefer a different lodge or camp, Kuzora can update the quote accordingly.

Tip of the Day

Bwindi accommodation must match the confirmed gorilla permit sector. Kuzora Safari Tours should first secure the gorilla permit, then confirm the lodge. This prevents clients from sleeping far from the briefing point and waking up unnecessarily early.

Day 10

Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari

This is the biggest day of the safari: gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you enter the forest with guides and trackers to search for a habituated mountain gorilla family. Tip of the Day

Gorilla trekking requires reasonable fitness, but clients do not need to be athletes. A porter is strongly recommended because they help with bags, balance on steep sections, and support local communities. It is important to note that gorilla trekking in Bwindi at USD 800 per foreign non-resident, while gorilla habituation is listed at USD 1,500 under the 2024–2026 UWA tariff and that affects the final price depending on what experience you choose.

Day 11

Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi

After the intensity of gorilla trekking, the safari slows down with a scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most beautiful highland lakes. This is the perfect place to relax, enjoy cool weather, lake views, canoeing, and gentle cultural experiences.
