You begin with an overnight in Entebbe before heading to Kibale Forest National Park, widely known for chimpanzee tracking, then continue through Queen Elizabeth National Park for classic savannah wildlife and the famous Ishasha route. Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda for Your 7 Day Uganda Discovery Safari

Day 2

Transfer from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart Entebbe and drive west toward Kibale Forest National Park, the primate capital of Uganda’s safari circuit. The route passes through changing landscapes, small towns, and tea-growing country before you arrive in the Kibale area for check-in and relaxation ahead of chimpanzee tracking. The park is commonly reached by road from Entebbe/Kampala as part of the southwest circuit

Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Tracking Safari Experience in Uganda

Today is dedicated to chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, one of Uganda’s most important primate destinations. UWA’s current tariff lists Kibale chimpanzee tracking for foreign non-residents at USD 250, and Kibale is widely regarded as one of the best places in Africa to track chimpanzees. After the trek, you can relax at the lodge or add an optional Bigodi wetland or community activity.

Chimp trekking starts with a ranger briefing. Good walking shoes, rain gear, and a small daypack are recommended. UWA notes that chimpanzee tracking visits are limited to 1 hour with the chimpanzees once located

Day 4

Scenic Transfer from Kibale to Bwindi via Queen Elizabeth National Park

Leave Kibale after breakfast and drive south through Queen Elizabeth National Park, adding a valuable wildlife component to the itinerary as you continue toward Bwindi. This routing gives the safari more variety by connecting rainforest primates with Uganda’s classic savannah landscapes, and the Ishasha sector is especially famous for its tree-climbing lions. You then continue onward to Buhoma in northern Bwindi for the next two nights

Day 5

Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari Experience

This is the signature day of the safari. After an early breakfast, transfer to the gorilla trekking briefing point in Bwindi for ranger allocation and pre-trek guidance. UWA’s current tariff lists the foreign non-resident gorilla permit at USD 800, and the permit includes the guide fee, park entrance for the day, and a community development contribution. Once your assigned gorilla family is found, the visitor encounter with the gorilla once found is limited to 1 hour.

Transfer from Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, depart Bwindi and drive northeast to Lake Mburo National Park for your final safari night. Lake Mburo is a smart and popular stopover on the return from southwestern Uganda because it breaks the long drive to Entebbe while adding a different wildlife setting, known for zebra, giraffe, impala, topi, and acacia woodland scenery.

Lake Mburo is about 250 km from Entebbe, making it the ideal final stop on a southwest Uganda road safari.
